Racing Against Mercury Retrograde

You would think as an astrologer I’d be immune to the effect of certain difficult cyclical energy patterns, right? I mean, after all, I know they’re coming so heck, I should be able to avoid them.

Yeah . . . not so much.

I have my share of Mercury retrograde nightmare stories, as I’m sure many of you do as well. Like the time I had to sign a car lease right at a Mercury retrograde shadow period where Mercury would later turn retrograde opposing the midpoint of my Saturn-Mars in the third house (ruling transportation and contracts). Oh yes, good times. What happened back then was my brand new car spent more of her first six weeks in the repair shop than in my driveway. You guessed it -- I had major electrical problems with the car.

Oh, and then there’s the time I got defrauded. Back in 2007 I was in a situation where I was coerced into signing an agreement that later cost me a ton of money in legal fees to get out of. You guessed it -- Mercury was retrograde during the time! The good news was that the agreement didn’t stick. I remember learning from some astrologer or Astrology book at one point that more often than not, if you sign a new contract during Mercury retrograde then the agreement isn’t likely to stick. Or, it will be changed drastically.

So here we are again, folks. Mercury will turn retrograde on Thanksgiving in the U.S and will remain retrograde until December 13. And guess what I had to do? You got it -- I had to sign a contract. A pretty important one too, I might add. One that has significant potential ramifications for my career and one that I have been quite excited about. But things didn’t fall into place until last week.

So there I was, scrambling on the phone with people who knew nothing about Astrology  -- including a lawyer -- imploring them to get me the contract before last Friday so I could avoid signing during the retrograde shadow period (the time when Mercury gets to the degree it will later turn retrograde at).

They must have thought I was nuts, but they humored me. I received my contract and had several days to carefully consider it, ask for certain changes and then have terms I didn’t fully understand explained to me by an attorney.

Then, in good faith and with plenty of positive vibes, I signed. Several days before the Mercury shadow. Maybe, just maybe, this time around I was able to use my Astrology.

Stay tuned.
